Cuba with Eleni
I decided to tag along with my friend Eleni on an exploratory trip to Cuba as she studied the country’s public health system, but when her local guide was nowhere to be found, we dropped our previous plans and embraced visiting Cuba without a roadmap. With its vintage cars and crumbling glamour, the city of Havana is effortlessly photogenic. As lovely as she is to look at, music is the real heartbeat of this country, where salsa blares out of every doorway and car window. The beauty and sounds of the country really shimmer after dark, when the air has cooled and people come out of their homes to play music together on the malecón, and share a swig of sweet rum by the sea.
