Adrienne + Josh’s Tyler Arboretum Wedding
Family and friends all played a part in this rustic and romantic summertime Tyler Arboretum Wedding. From the officiant and crafted invitations to the home-brewed beer and candles atop the tables, their family and friends made this special occasion shine.
Tyler Arboretum Wedding // The Back Story from the Bride…
Josh and I really wanted to include our friends and family in the wedding as much as possible. My cousin and bridesmaid, Jill, designed the Save-the-Date cards and invitations and had them printed in Baltimore, MD. We asked our good friend, Angelika, who we used to practice yoga with, to create and officiate the ceremony. Our friend, Evan, traveled from Portland to DJ the reception and after-party. A beer connoisseur and a friend we used to climb with on the east coast, Andrew, brewed four kegs of homemade beer for us. My dad picked all the wine and champagne.
Our good friend Edward Winter of READYLUCK, who we used to practice yoga with and shot many good memories of our budding relationship, came full circle and shot the photos at our wedding. Another friend, Angela, made candles for our dinner tables – Angela also gave me the pair of shoes I ended up wearing for the wedding. Our friend, Max, helped announce the wedding party and transition from dinner to dancing. One of the groomsmen, Keith, and Josh’s friend, Tim, rented out an AirBnB for everyone to party after the party.
I really wanted the color palette to showcase the rainy days of spring on the east coast (and Portland!), so I chose deep blues, greens and purples with small pops of red. My mom and I suggested ferns, red roses, green helleborus, delphinium, fiddleheads, purple sweet pea, blue thistle, and eucalyptus for the floral arrangements – Buttercup did a fabulous job, I loved the artichoke and protea flower they stuck in the bridesmaid bouquets to make them each unique! I wanted the bridesmaids, Caroline and Jill, to pick out dresses that were within the color palette and that had interesting textures, but something that they were totally comfortable in and that they would wear again. I loved my mom’s dress too – she actually picked hers out first and set the trend of how I wanted my ladies to look.
Josh was in charge of the cake – he wanted a “naked cake” with fruit and cream filling. We stuck some flowers on the outside to add some personality to it. It was delicious!
My favorite moment was turning the corner to come down the aisle and seeing all of my friends and family – when I realized that everyone was there to support Josh and me, I was overwhelmed by the love that surrounded us. Other favorite moments of mine were getting ready in the morning with my ladies, listening to everyone laugh and sniffle as Josh said his vows, and dancing with all of our friends and family. It was also a very special moment when everyone stopped to honor my brother who passed away earlier that year. Josh said his favorite moment was the first look when we met under this beautiful big tree by ourselves before the ceremony; and hanging out with all of our friends from both the east and west coast at the after-party. It was such a special time!
