The Foundry Wedding | Long Island City Venue
This past September, Arielle and Sekani celebrated their wedding day at The Foundry, an industrial-chic venue in Long Island City. This historic venue built in the 19th Century has accommodated a variety of uses over the years. It was first founded to manufacture fine varnishes. Then, it was transformed into the Albra Metal Foundry, where it supplied the riverfront manufacturers of New York City. After several decades, the foundry became an abandoned building until the Du Val family restored it to the dazzling wedding and event venue it is today. Chic, historic, intimate, unique, and versatile are a few words that come to mind when viewing this industrial architecture.
About The Foundry, Long Island City Wedding Venue
Unlike other venues, this venue offers extra creative freedom with plenty of space and flexibility for unique wedding designs and hanging installations. It’s truly a luxury wedding designer’s dream venue!
The Foundry is one of the most aesthetic and original wedding venues in New York City. The vibe is a refined combination of warehouse-industrial space and organic greenhouse, giving you an ethereal oasis in the city.
Some of the original architectural remnants as a functioning foundry remain on site. The venue has intentionally integrated these pieces into the overall design and feel of the space. The newly restored Foundry has over 3,000 square feet of indoor space and al fresco courtyard and terrace options.
The Foundry Venue Spaces
Foundry Main Space
Make this spacious venue what you want it. Style it up, keep it simple, or make it cozy and intimate with private lounge areas—the design is up to you! If you want to use the main space, there is room for up to 180 guests for cocktails or 125 guests for a seated dinner.
The Courtyard
Featuring views of the iconic Queensboro Bridge, you’ll love this enchanting courtyard with cobblestones and ivy-covered walls. You can easily add a luxury reception tent to enjoy the ambiance comfortably in inclement weather. Firepits, lounge areas, and string lights make this one of the venue’s most popular spaces. The Courtyard hosts up to 165 seated guests and more for a standing cocktail reception.
Foundry Greenhouse
Imagine the elegance of exposed brick and dreamy hanging installations surrounded by greenery and topped with a traditional transparent greenhouse ceiling. Essentially, it’s a greenhouse without the stuffy greenhouse effect. Many couples host their weddings in the indoor greenhouse, which can accommodate 70 guests for dinner or 120 guests for cocktails, dancing, and the wedding ceremony.
Rooftop Terrace
Elevate cocktail hour with spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline and the East River. The Rooftop Terrace can host 80-90 guests for cocktail hour.
The Foundry Wedding Packages + Services
The Foundry provides access to the areas you book for your wedding day. The space is yours for 12 hours, with a curfew time of 12:30 am for guests and 2:00 am for vendor clean-up. In addition, your caterers may use the fully-equipped kitchen. Vendors, caterers, and rentals must come from The Foundry’s approved lists, and those companies will bring everything to the venue on your big day.
The Foundry does offer a selection of tables, benches, and stools to use as well. Your vendors and caterers are welcome to visit the space beforehand to plan the design.
Due to various weather conditions, The Foundry provides heating and cooling for your space. A dressing room on The Mezzanine is also available, equipped with a spacious counter, a clothing steamer, and full-length mirrors. (And the venue also has a Billiards Room for the wedding party!)
Three staff members from The Foundry will be available on the day or evening of your wedding, including a parking attendant, a doorman, and a host. Feel free to ask them for any help you may need. While no on-site parking is available, the parking attendant is there to help guests find street parking nearby.
Venue Availability
The Foundry is available for weddings and events year-round, but book as soon as possible. The venue typically books up a year in advance! You can view The Foundry Calendar to reserve an available date.
