About the Wedding

Much of New York’s allure is showcased in Bryant Park: the rich history, diverse events, markets, activities, and the beloved green space that brings people together. Just a block over from shimmering Times Square, this special park is a favorite for many NY locals, which is why Jade and Eric chose this location for their wedding day. These two exude effortless elegance, and Bryant Park offered a complementary backdrop for their simply sophisticated wedding day. Bryan Park Grill is a fantastic venue for couples who want variety and fun on their wedding day. From cake cutting and cocktails to toasts beneath the giant sycamores, this spectacular venue offers both festive party vibes and romantic park ambiance. Not only is it near the park but it’s also connected to the New York Public Library and other iconic Midtown and Fifth Avenue locales.

The day started at Bryant Park Hotel, which, as its name implies, sits directly across the street from Bryant Park and the Bryant Park Grill (their reception venue). After adding the finishing touches with their wedding party at the Bryant Park Hotel, we began with portraits at the New York Public Library. While the impressive steps always lend to beautiful compositions, the library’s west-facing side looks into the park for additional backdrops. (With hair, makeup, and attire ready to go, most couples don’t want to trek around for portraits. This location has a little bit of everything and keeps walking to a minimum.)

Private Vows in the Garden

Next, Jade and Eric exchanged private vows in a quiet garden connected to the library. After taking a few moments for themselves, we went for a short stroll down Fifth Avenue to create more portraits. The bustling 5th Ave energy paired with the Manhattan backdrop is just incredible for couples’ photos, and that’s when it all starts feeling real—this is your day, and all eyes are on you!

Grace Church New York Wedding

Jade and Eric were eager to meet up with the bridal party for a few more portraits in Bryant Park before hopping into taxis and heading downtown for family photos. Then, it was time for their wedding ceremony at Grace Church, New York, located downtown. This ornate cathedral’s rich history makes it a vital piece of the city—you can’t imagine the cityscape without it. The towering steeple, stained-glass depictions, and intricate architectural elements make it a favorite ceremony location for New York couples.

After the ceremony, Jade and Eric treated their family and wedding guests to an open-top bus tour from downtown, traveling up Sixth Ave to Midtown for the reception at Bryant Park Grill. The venue overlooks Bryant Park for a storybook al fresco evening. The weather couldn’t have been better for their open-tent dinner.

Their New York wedding planner, Lara Mahler of The Privilege is Mine, in partnership with One Flower by L,did exquisite work transforming their tented reception into a masterpiece. The large sycamore trees rose up through the tent itself for a garden party family-style dinner. Warm light from the taper candles and hanging lights reminiscent of paper lanterns illuminated the tablescapes. Green ferns and whimsical floral arrangements offered beauty and ambiance without overwhelming the tables or getting in the way of conversations.

Then, a traditional Chinese lion dance led the way and transitioned the party to another room that kicked off dancing for the evening. Jade changed into her chic Galvan London reception dress, and the couple danced the night away in one of New York’s most stunning wedding venues.
