Sonja and Ben in Greenpoint

I had the great fortune to document Sonja and Ben's special day last fall during a chilly but radiant afternoon in November. It was really sweet being involved in the planning of this Australian couple's intimate nuptials. They traveled all the way from Sydney to spend a few weeks together exploring New York City. Initially, they had planned to make their union official at City Hall.  When they decided that they wanted to have their ceremony outside I suggested a beautiful waterfront spot in Greenpoint right down the street from my house. I love watching the sun go down at this park, and  there was a great view of the New York skyline which I thought would be nice for photos. It turned out to be perfect!

On the big day, I met the sweet couple at their East Village apartment. The sun followed us as we wandered around the neighborhood making photographs. Sharon of SB Beauty did a stunning job on the bride's hair and make-up and really enhanced her natural glow. Sonja carried a custom made bouquet from the local flower shop, Spina. When we arrived in Greenpoint, the glow of the sun setting was magical. Such a great time for a little ceremony officially witnessed by yours truly. Ending the afternoon with champagne at a local watering hole, I felt all aglow having had such a unique experience with Sonja and Ben.

Amanda + Kevin

Kindred sprits! It was just by coincidence that Amanda, Kevin and I had the same location in mind for their idyllic autumn portraits: Larriland Farms. Situated in the tranquil Maryland countryside, we set out on this iconic family farm in the late afternoon to pick apples and take in the sublime and rustic environs. Scheduled almost precisely a year before their forthcoming nuptials, they definitely made the most of this opportunity to get out of the city and explore the spacious orchards together. Few things can beat fresh air and time to wander, laugh, and enjoy a few glasses of wine. The Fuji’s were perfectly crisp!
